Windows 2.0 part two
The windows are in. I was a little naive and thought all we would have to do after the workmen were finished was to put the curtains back up and move the furniture back into place. It is not that easy.
There is a bit of repair work to be done on almost every window. David has sanded and painted all the window sills; they got a little scarred and scraped. There is some plaster repair as well, and we have to find matching paint. I washed all the curtains while they were down and want to replace the kitchen and laundry room ones. Because well insulated windows are a lot thicker than what we had, our sills are a lot narrower now. Also the windows almost entirely fill the window wells, so there is no room to put the room darkening shades in the guest room and the roman shades in the family room. Both of those applications were within the window opening and there is no longer enough depth for the hardware. Sigh.
But the windows are very pretty, very clean, and the house seems so much quieter!

Windows 2.0 part one
Today is the day we get our new windows. Two fellows arrived at about 10am and a couple more are expected soon. The whole process is a little nerve wracking.
Although they came and measured the windows previously, the new ones don't seem to fill the holes exactly. Apparently our window holes are not perfectly square. They keep telling me everything will look great when they are finished.
Right now, it looks like there are big holes in the walls of the house. I'm very glad the rain we have been having for the past 3 days stopped overnight, and it has gotten warmer.
The sound of sledgehammers is not soothing.
No living room window (inside)
